Song. by CDAYLEWIS.
Come, live with me and be my love, (8)
And we will all the pleasures prove (8)
Of peace and plenty, bed and board, (8)
That chance emplyment may afford. (8)
I'll handle Dainties on the docks
And thou shalt read of summer frocks:
At evening by the sour canals
We'll hope to hear some madrigals.
Care on thy maiden brow shall put
A wreath of wrinkles, and thy foot
Be shod with pain: not silked dress
But toil shall tire thy loveliness.
Hunger shall make they modest zone
And cheat fond death of all but bone -
If these delights thy mind may move,
Then live with me and be my love.
My imitation.
I laid asleep in class one day,
Not a word did the teacher say
Perhaps she heard my dream aloud
Of you, alone, i was so proud
Asleep, i called your name, so loved
That name, I smile, each time it's heard.
They try hard to come between us,
Why can't love live without this fuss?
How long do we have together?
Be it months, years, or forever
Don't be hurt or sad my darling,
To your memory I'll still cling.
If, one sad day it's time to part
I hope in one piece stays your heart.
Keep your promise, please, and stay strong,
I'd never want to do you wrong.
blahhhh okay this was for literature class, i had no idea HOW to do an imitation, so i just did what came natural. wonder what points i'll get. we'll know soon enough! =)
